A. No. While it may be tempting to try a different screw in a Kreg Joint, there are many reasons why you shouldn't. Kreg screws are specifically designed for use with Kreg Joints and include many features which make them uniquely suited for use with the technique.

Self-Tapping Tip In order to minimize splitting of the wood, our screws use auger-point self-tapping tips which bore their own hole as they are driven. This eliminates the need to drill a small hole in the receiving workpiece before the screws are driven, and keeps your wood from splitting.
